Vinegar, the Natural Cleaner

November 1st marks “National Vinegar Day” for the US to pay homage to one of the oldest, traditional and one of the most natural cleaners known. As a type of acid made from fermenting fruits, Vinegar is non-toxic and effective in cleaning many of home and office spaces.

In a 50/50 water and white vinegar mixture and a spray bottle, it can be used to clean anything from cutting boards, counters, stoves, carpet stains, desks, windows, door handles, to removing and preventing mildew and harmful bacteria. Adding baking soda to surfaces and spraying will also help remove hard water stains, soap buildup and other difficult to remove substances. Also, letting faucets, sinks, tubs and toilets sit with this mixture of vinegar and baking soda will help remove additional layers of scum without much elbow grease.
